Hi,

I want to know, can the Instant Reality player be used in a commercial web browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Internet Explorer as a plug-in? If the player can be plugged in, what platforms does the Instant Reality player work on as a plug-in?

Thanks.

Kind regards,
Craig

Not right now. We have prove-of-concept plugins for Firefox and ActiveX but they are not released yet. We just don't have the manpower right now do polish the plugins to a state where it would really make sense. The problem is also, that it is really hard to support all the different platforms and browser interfaces and on the other hand nobody would like to spend money on plugins Sad

Hi,

I'd like to develop browser-based X3D applications and Instant Reality seems like the best cross-platform, "unencumbered" framework. Personally, I think if you guys made a cross-platform plug-in for Firefox 3 (possibly using/leveraging the currently-experimental Canvas 3D[1]) you'd be doing the world (OK, me) a huge favour.

I understand that manpower is a problem, but can you say whether or not you definitely plan to release these plug-ins eventually?

Cheers, and thanks for making such great software freely available.
