Hi there,
Sometimes I have to use a scene, which is placed/composed asymmetrically around the point [0, 0, 0]. I noticed, that InstantPlayer always rotates such scenes around the point [0, 0, 0], while other viewers (BSContact, Cortona, ...) seem to rotate around the middle of the scene's bounding box.

My question is: is this behaviour "by design" or is this a bug?

Does anybody know which one from the two behaviours mentioned above is "the standard one"?

Kind regards,

navg

Yes, this is in fact by design to ease navigation in a new scene.

And it is forced by the spec:

http://www.web3d.org/x3d/specifications/ISO-IEC-19775-1.2-X3D-AbstractSpecification/Part01/components/navigation.html#Viewpoint

The default camera position is 0 0 10 and centerOfRotation is 0 0 0.

Just press 'a' to see the full model and double-click on a surface-point to center the navigation around this point.

Best regards
